through the deck holes.Install  the extended washers and the spacers and thread the nuts onto the
faucets fastening bolts. With the faucet installed, press a roll of plumbers putty around the underside
of the drain flange.Slide the cone shaped gasket onto the drain and coat it with pipe joint compound.
Insert the drain through the basin's drain opening from below and thread the flange ring onto it from above.
Lower the faucet's drain-plug lift rod through the hole in the top of the faucet until it bottoms out.
insert the pop-up assembly connect the clevis through one of the lower holes and install the clip.

Taking Up and Resetting a Toilet

Taking Up and Resseting a Toilet

Unscrew the compression nut from the toilet shutoff valve. Then loosen the coupling nut at the top
of the supply tube.If the bolt spins in place, you might have a broken flange.Hold the bolt into place with needle-nose pliers.Grip the toilet from the seat hinges, carefully lift and carry the toilet onto several waiting
newspapers to avoid a mess since there will be a small amount of water left in the toilet.Gently tip the toilet on its side, and use putty knife to scrape away any old wax.Install the new closet bolts and wax gasket and set the bowl over the new bolts and press the toilet into the wax.Tighten the closet-bolt nuts with pliers.DO NOT over tighten for you will crack the base of the bowl and most likely will be doing the job for free.Using a hacksaw cut off the part of the closet bolt extending just above the nuts, retighten the nuts and snap on the decorative caps. While holding back the shutoff valve with one wrench, tighten a new supply tube in place with another wrench.Finish by tightening the coupling nut.

Repairing a Cast-Iron Flange

Repairing a Cast-Iron Flange

Step # 1 After removing the toilet, lift the wax and plastic toilet flange insert from the drain, and scrape away any wax thats left on the flange.

Step # 2 Insert a closet bolt into the repair strap and slide the strap under the broken section of the toilet flange.

Step #  3 Install the other closet bolt, and press a new bowl gasket over the flange.

Cutting and Fitting CPVC Pipe

Cutting and Fitting CPVC Pipe

Step # 1 Use plastic pipe-cutting sheers to cut CPVC.Be sure to allow for the depth of the fitting hub.

Step #  2 Apply primer to the pipe ends and fitting hubs.Primer removes the surface glaze and reduces leaks.

Step #  3 Test fit the pipe and fittings. Before you disassemble the pipe and cement it,mark the final alignment with a pencil on the fitting.

Step #  4 Apply CPVC solvent cement to the pipe and fitting hub,and insert the pipe about one quarter turn out of alignment.

Step #  5 Rotate the pipe one-quarter turn after inserting it to line up the pencil marks. This spreads the cement and accelerates curing.

Soldering Copper Tubing

Soldering Copper Tubing

Step # 1 Use a wire brush or abrasive pad to clean each hub on the fitting.

Step # 2 Scour the end of each pipe until it's shiney at least 1 inch back where the fitting will be attached.Wipe the pipe and fitting with a rag.

Step # 3 Apply flux to the pipe end and the inside of the fitting with a small brush.Insert the pipe and wipe away the excess flux.

Step # 4 Pull approximately 24 inches of solder from the spool and wrap it around your hand for a better grip.

Step # 5 To keep from scorching the rubber and plastic parts in the shutoff valve, remove the stem before soldering the valve.

Step # 6 Heat both sides of the lowest hub on the fitting.Touch the solder to the fitting.Continue to heat the fitting until the solder starts to melt.

Step # 7 When you have finished soldering the fitting and before the solder hardens wipe the excess solder from each joint.

Replacing a Flush Valve

Replacing a Flush Valve

Step # 1 Loosen the tank bolts with a socket wrench while backholding the slotted bolthead within the tank using a flatblade screwdriver.
Step # 2 Remove the old flush valves spud-nut washer and lossen the spud nut using joint pliers.
Step # 3 Install the new flush valve thru the tank hole and position the overflow tube to fit the fill tube on the fill valve.
Step # 4 Thread the large spud nut onto the flush valve at the bottom of the tank and tighten the nut with pliers until it squeaks.
Step # 5 Fit the large rubber spud washer over the spud nut and coat the washer with pipe compound
Step # 6 Install washers on the tank bolts then insert the bolts thru the tank and bowl.
