Taking Up and Resseting a Toilet
Unscrew the compression nut from the toilet shutoff valve. Then loosen the coupling nut at the top
of the supply tube.If the bolt spins in place, you might have a broken flange.Hold the bolt into place with needle-nose pliers.Grip the toilet from the seat hinges, carefully lift and carry the toilet onto several waiting
newspapers to avoid a mess since there will be a small amount of water left in the toilet.Gently tip the toilet on its side, and use putty knife to scrape away any old wax.Install the new closet bolts and wax gasket and set the bowl over the new bolts and press the toilet into the wax.Tighten the closet-bolt nuts with pliers.DO NOT over tighten for you will crack the base of the bowl and most likely will be doing the job for free.Using a hacksaw cut off the part of the closet bolt extending just above the nuts, retighten the nuts and snap on the decorative caps. While holding back the shutoff valve with one wrench, tighten a new supply tube in place with another wrench.Finish by tightening the coupling nut.
